The last two birthdays I spent alone.
One hiking the Dolomites,
another in silence at Vipassana.
Those moments shaped me — stripped down, solitary, raw.
And yet, this year felt different. My 40th.
I didn’t want to be alone… but I also didn’t want to orchestrate every detail.
So, I let it unfold. And somehow, it all just flowed.
My sister next door in Portugal.
A barbecue under the sun.
The best prawns, fresh sardines, vegetables pulled straight from the garden.
Even the ducks and my little wifey joined in. 🦆
No big plan. No perfection needed.
Just presence. Just people. Just love.
And I’m so deeply grateful. 🫶
Because it reminded me of something simple, but true:
It’s not only about the journey, or the destination.
It’s about the company.
Because you can be in the middle of nowhere,
and if you’re with people you love — life is beautiful. 🌿
